I wish I still had those letters, somewhere along the way they got lost. The day I went to my mum’s house with the intention of digging through them – and found out that they had gone missing (mum! did you throw them out?) – I was more than a little heartbroken.

Thanks for the encouragement – I am going to keep plowing on. I do like writing, I just need to find that balance between writing about stuff that interests me, and is still relevant to my business. Or, as you say, focus more on visual content. It’s even more time-consuming than writing though!

Thanks again for stopping by – much appreciated :)

I haven’t written my own blog in ages. Partly because I spend so much time writing posts for other people. But mainly because I’ve been struggling with how and what I want to contribute. I just can’t be arsed – or see value in – adding more of the same to the mix.

Of course, it doesn’t help that the term content marketing is almost as dull as Richard Gere’s acting.

Anyway, I’ve been doing a lot of pondering and planning lately, with several of your questions in mind. I’ve now got a couple of fun, new ventures on the horizon. Related to writing. Yes, and content. Con-tent. Con-tent. What a bloody silly word.

What’s exciting is that I’ve decided to communicate everything in a way that makes me really happy. Similar to the way I wrote 10 page letters to friends back home during my travels. And when I used to write cheeky newsletters at tgarvel.com.au and lastminute.com, but don’t get to do as much these days (SEO and serious business can be lame that way). Because that’s what first made, and still makes, writing a joy for me.

Sounds to me like you’re not enjoying writing anymore because you’re so worried about what your peers will think about your content. And you’re just not having fun following or writing about the ’10 awesomely secret sauce techniques you must follow to skyrocket your position on the food chain from random post pleb to content marketing guru.’

Don’t worry.

I can assure you that you’re a great writer. Very easy to read, most interesting thoughts and more than a little bit funny. This post? Cathy be like, real authentic (but don’t get me started on that word!).

Not sure what techniques you’re using to overcome chronic productination, but there seems an obvious one you should try.

Have you still got those letters from your friend, or you can get hold of the ones you wrote? If so, have a read and a giggle through, and rediscover whatever it was that made you both love writing down all that schoolgirl babble.

And if you really are over the whole word thing, can you just do visual posts (ok, with a wee bit of text for SEO). You know, fun infographics, cartoons, photos, memes etc? You’d rock at that.
