Thinking about blogging like invoicing – that’s a great idea. I have to keep reminding myself that marketing really isn’t a ‘maybe’ option, it’s the engine driving my goals and aspirations, and as such really should be right at the top of my priorities.

I’ve seen that about writers too – the majority of writing is basically bum in seat – even if sometimes that means staring at a blank screen (or piece of paper in the olden typewriter days).

Starting meditation again has made me really conscious of how much of a construct time really is. 10 minutes of sitting still is a loooong period of time when all your brain wants to do is rabbit on and distract you with a million things. Mindfulness helps tap into that time-subjectivity in a good way.

I read a book recently called Time Warped by Claudia Hammond. It’s all about how we perceive and experience time, looking at why it seems to speed up as we get older, and some ideas on how to regain control of that process. Well worth a read (I thought so anyway!)

Thanks for stopping by :)

We’ve talked about mindfulness and meditation on other forums and I think it’s already improve my focus. Not just my focus while I work – so I get more done in less time – but in my down time too. I spend less time thinking about work when I’m not working and it’s (slowly) helping think a little more creatively about my content marketing.

I’ve also been following James Clear, a dude all about habit and he often talks about the benefit of a routine. In fact, many super famous writers have had routines where they haven’t worried about the quality of their work, they’ve just made sure they showed up and wrote someone during the time they allocated. All reported that the quality went up simply because they showed up.

I approach my blogging like my invoicing. I would never randomly not invoice a client because I had something else to do!

I think the key is exactly what you’re doing – MAKING TIME. Not finding time. Keep it up!
